First time because i'm super interested in where the story is going-- but the second is because I know all writers leave a piece of themselves in the story, i find myself wondering where you'd have to be to put this story on paper... And how much of your own fingerprints you're leaving in the psychology of the characters.
I know that sounds odd, but as a person who can put myself very squarely into other people's stories and start feeling the emotions, as long as they're honest and makes sense, it's the most fascinating part of reading anyone's work. It's also why I consider myself more of a reader than a writer.
I myself do not post everything I write....because I am a person that prefers to stay forensically clean, and some of it is exceptionally dark and comes from places that i'm not sure I want people to see...yet.
At any rate, I digress. This series the bomb-- and really makes me miss boudin balls.
I’m having a blast writing it. I have the entire first arc mapped out (22 chapters planned) and I’m so excited to share all the cool things I have in store for Cassius & company (especially Dukaine! and Adia!).
There is absolutely a lot of me in the story. I won’t spoil which bits…
“That’s how I think of the tattoos. Cut & paste.” ←Loved that one, and it’s a bomb slogan for your story.
And then this one, which I’m thinking will be my favorite line in the entire piece. “I need whiskey and gumbo.” ← Lines so good it makes you mad at the author, lol. And you’re damn right, I need whiskey and gumbo.
The section where the unspoken rule is mentioned–think first and talk later when bad shit goes down? I love it because it connects you so well to those characters. I also think first after bad or stressful things," so it was really relatable, which puts me closer to these guys.
The section where they are talking about her assault? You once mentioned to me that I did well not focusing on it, which made it work way better in the story, and I have to say the same here. Only maybe in a different direction, as her being unable to focus on it and him carrying all of it has got to be some of the best shit I’ve ever read, and damn it, David, I don’t like romance, and now you have me FREAKING hooked. I’m happy/mad, lol.
Let’s finish on the second best… “We’re eating the fucking gumbo.”
I need the next chapter, thank you very much. Darnit! I was supposed to be getting back to Inference!!!!
What a series!
I've been reading each piece twice through.

Thank you for sharing it!
Thank you DC!

Thank you for coming along for the journey.
Yeah, I'm glad....and I have enough child-like wonder to never ask a magician to reveal their tricks

Thank you so much Eris. I’m excited to do reveals for Adia and especially Dukaine in the next couple of chapters. :)
I needed some whiskey after writing that chapter…
Well, I haven't had alcohol in years and this made me pull out some apple cinnamon 8-10yr old homemade moonshine.
It was so strong I could only take like two sips. But, it tastes like apple cinnamon tea.. haha.
